"Get into Employment" course

We have currently finished running two free “Get into Employment” courses that offered a unique combination of counselling, volunteer placement and tutoring to those seeking employment. The pictures below are of learners who took part and completed the "Get into Employment" course.

Family Fun Day

On May 27th, Community Ignite attended the Family Fun Day held at the Kingswood Park.
The team were encouraging people to think about volunteering and joining family support courses. The event was aimed at the whole family, to help build stronger communities by bringing people together to have fun and enjoy everything their local area has to offer.

Free help and advice for job seekers

Free, friendly sessions take place at Kingswood Library on Thursdays to help people who have been out of the workplace for a while.

The drop-in service runs from 1pm to 3pm and is also geared up to helping people develop their online skills.

The project is run by the Chase & Kings Forest Community Project, which since 1st April has been known by its new name, Community Ignite.

Three year funding secured

Through a partnership with Southern Brooks, Juice and Abbotswood Action Group in Yate, Chase and Kings Forest Community Project have secured three-year funding from South Gloucestershire council. This funding will fund a core service for those seeking employment at Kingswood library. A weekly drop-in supported by trained volunteers (link to CV/IT drop-in). As part of the agreement Chase and Kings Forest will be putting on local community events in Kingswood to engage with families and local groups.

Change of name...

In November’s AGM, the members of Chase and Kings Forest Community Project voted to change the name and the logo to Community Ignite. We felt that our current name was too long and needed updating. The name Community Ignite was developed in discussion with our members, as a memorable name that clearly indicates our main aim – igniting the community. We will still be working in the Chase and Kings Forest areas of South Gloucestershire, focusing our direct services on Kingswood, Staple Hill and Cadbury Heath.
