We were thrilled that 48 people attended Celebrate Volunteering and Community Ignite’s AGM on Thursday 5th November. Here are a few highlights:
Gareth Ellaway, DHI and our Vice Chair, led his first AGM for us.
Erica Williams, Chair, South Gloucestershire Council spoke passionately about the importance of volunteers - "thanks to volunteers who want to improve services, working together and making decisions to improve them….. to make a better future for everyone… volunteering is about helping and supporting those people who need to know that they are not on their own”
James Cridland is one of Community Ignite’s health champions and he spoke about his personal experiences of volunteering - “Being a health champion and volunteering has changed my life immensely in all aspects of my life”
We have received some great initial feedback about three workshops hosted by us and CVS South Gloucestershire, focusing on strengthening your board, volunteer placements and volunteer recruitment.
Feedback so far about the event:
“very useful to hear people’s ideas, concerns and contacts”
“James’ presentation – inspirational! Really positive to see many volunteers working at the event.”
“Great idea, together we can “mend” the community that we live in.”
Thanks to all those who gave up their morning to come along. We will let you know about our next networking event very soon.
